- Saurashtra child actors director made the country proud along with the state
It is a matter of pride for Gujarat that a Gujarati film has been selected for the 2022 Oscar Awards. But, at the same time very few would know that the main actor of the film belongs to the Rabari family of Vasai village near Jamnagar whose father is a bus driver and another child actor is the son of a rickshaw puller from Jamnagar. Also the third one Klakar also belongs to the village of Jamjodhpur Panthak. To find the actors in the year 2019, the film producer director’s team has selected children from ordinary families after doing face search across Saurashtra.
The lead actor Bhavin hails from a village in Jamnagar
Jamnagar is 10 km from the city on Khambhaliya Road, the main hero of Oscar-nominated Amreli director Pan Nalin’s Gujarati film Chhello-Show. Bhavin Rabari is a Class 8 student of the nearby Rawalsar Wadi School in the remote village of Vasai. Bhaveen is currently in Mumbai to prepare for the next possible trip. Alabhai Nangesh, father of Bhavin, a bus driver who has made Jamnagar and Rabari society proud, says, “When we got a call from the director, we came to know that the Oscar award is being given abroad. Also son Bhavin has also got fame. As a father, I and mother Nathiben are proud to know that our son has made the Halar and Rabari community proud.
A team of film makers came to the village to select the actors
How was Bhavin selected? Regarding that, father Alabhai Nangesh says that before the time of Corona, the team used to go around the rural areas to find the actors of the film. At least 10 thousand children must have seen it. Later Bhavin and others were selected. Vanzara Rambhai of Jamnagar drives a rickshaw. His son Rahul was also selected in this way. The other children are from Porbandar, a village in Jamjodhpur parish and also from Amreli parish. Not only Jamnagar but the children of Saurashtra and the director have made India proud today. It is more appropriate to say that. The main theme of the film is the love of film to a child and his struggle to save 35mm film with the advent of multiplex culture.
