The 72nd birthday of the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was celebrated with enthusiasm in Surat. The municipality conducted a cleanliness drive at Dumas beach. A cleaning campaign was conducted under the chairmanship of Mayor Hemali Boghavala to make the beach clean and plastic free. On the theme Youth vs Garbage, more than 3000 youth came together to clean the beach. 1.2 tonnes of garbage was picked up from Dumas Beach and various estuaries of Tapi River. Union Railway Minister Darshana Jardosh celebrated the Prime Minister’s birthday by cutting a cake with disabled children.
Cleaning in Dumas beach and Tapi river
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday was celebrated in the city of Surat with body, mind and wealth. The municipality conducted a cleaning campaign at Dumas beach at seven o’clock in the morning. More than 3000 youths participated in this cleaning campaign. The youth cleaned the place beautifully by picking up the useless items including plastic waste from the beach. 1.2 tonnes of garbage was collected in a matter of hours as part of the campaign organized on the theme Youth Versus Garbage. Mayor Hemali Boghavala, Mun. Officers including Commissioner Banchanidhi Pani joined. Besides the Dumas Darya Ganesh beach, tons of waste was picked up from the eight different tributaries of Tapi river.
