The Indian Premier League (IPL) will return to its old style from the 2023 season, the way it was before Corona. Now the epidemic is under control and hence the league will be played in the old format of home ground and opposition team’s ground. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has made this announcement. Ganguly has informed the units attached to the board about this.
Due to covid IPL was held in few places
Due to the outbreak of Kovid-19 in 2020, the IPL was held at only a few venues. In 2020, it was held in empty stadiums at three locations in the United Arab Emirates in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
All teams will be able to play at their home ground
In 2021, this T20 tournament was organized at four venues in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Chennai. But now the epidemic is under control and hence this league will be played in the old format of home ground and opposition team ground.
Ganguly informed the units attached to the board
In a message sent to the state units, Ganguly said, “The IPL will be organized from next year in a format where matches will be played at the home ground and the opposition team’s ground.” All 10 teams will play their home matches at their designated venues.
Women’s IPL may also start soon
The BCCI is holding its full domestic season for the first time since 2020, with teams playing in the old home-and-away format. Apart from this, the BCCI is also planning to host the much-awaited Women’s IPL early next year. According to a report, the Women’s IPL could be held in March after the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa.
Also organizing Girls Under-15 ODI Tournament
In a message sent on September 20, Ganguly said, “The BCCI is currently working on organizing the much-awaited Women’s IPL. Its first season could be held early next year. Apart from the Women’s IPL, the BCCI is also going to organize the Girls’ Under-15 One Day Tournament.
