PAK Vs ENG: Alex Hales hits half century after 41 months

Opener Alex Hales’ half-century and Harry Brook’s unbeaten 42 helped England beat Pakistan by six wickets in the first T20 International here, taking a 1-0 lead in the seven-match series. In response to Pakistan’s 158 for seven, the England team, who won the toss and fielded first, scored 160 for four in 19.2 overs with four balls to spare.

Alex Hales’ half century

Man of the match Luke Wood took three wickets for 24 runs. Hales, the opener, made a comeback to the team after 41 months and played an innings of 53 runs off 40 balls with seven boundaries. Halles last played for England in 2019. Hales was suspended in 2019 for consuming banned drugs. Pakistan’s Usman Qadir dismissed David Malan (20) and Ben Duckett (21) to try to bring Pakistan back into the match but Hales and Brooke put on a 55-run partnership for the fourth wicket to give England victory.

Mohammed Rizwan’s Fifty

Pakistan’s opener Mohammad Rizwan scored 68 off 46 balls and captain Babar Azam played an innings of 31 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed contributed 28 runs in the middle order. Leg spinner Adil Rashid lost two wickets for 27 runs.
