5% GST will go if Congress comes to power, Rahul Gandhi tells Telangana weavers | Hyderabad News
He also assured tribal farmers that lakhs of pending applications seeking podu rights on forest land would be cleared once Congress forms government in Telangana.
Rahul said land was the biggest issue in Telangana. Many tribals are in occupation of lakhs of acres which is under dispute between forest and revenue departments, he said. “But CM KCR’s government wants to snatch away this land. If Congress is voted to form the government, we will give agriculture rights, pattas to tribals on forest land as per the Forest Act and include ownership details on Dharani,” Rahul said.
He also interacted with weavers and lick community on the third day of his Bharat Jodo yatra in Mahbubnagar. “I have been meeting youngsters. They have ambitions. But they go silent when I ask them if they will get jobs after completing their education,” he said, adding demonetisation and GST were the reasons for unemployment reaching its highest rate in 45 years. He said that when Congress forms the government at Centre it would revisit GST which would have only one tax slab not five.
Rahul said KCR was behaving as if he was raja of Telangana and dubbed BJP and TRS as joint partners in politics. “BJP is spreading hatred, TRS supports it. Whenever BJP wanted, TRS supported Modi government,” he said.
Rahul said, “Walking 25km daily is not easy. But I am not feeling tired. It is because of the love you are showering on me…you can see people of different religions, regions and communities walking together and helping each other when one of them slips during the yatra. This is the ‘Sachcha Hindustan’.”
