Kochi: Racing by private bus claims life of 54-year-old woman | Kochi News

KOCHI: A 54-year-old woman, who was riding pillion on her daughter’s scooter, was killed after a speeding private bus hit their vehicle at Edapally on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Beena Varghesewife of Varghese, Balakrishna Menon Road, Edapally. They were heading towards Edapally when the bus named Badusha, which was also in the same direction, hit the scooter from behind around 7pm. Beena fell on the road and the rear wheel on the bus ran over her. She died on the spot. Her daughter Jibina sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.
According to police, the private bus was racing with another bus. “Eyewitnesses told us that the accident occurred due to race of the two buses,” said Elamakkara police.

The deceased has been identified as Radhakrishnanson of Kishore of Azheekkal Kadavil House, in Vallarpadam.

According to police, Radhakrishnan, who was working in a private firm, met with the accident after he tried to overtake the drinking water truck from the left side. Both vehicles were travelling from Palarivattom to You poop side.
The victim died on the spot and the driver of the tanker truck was arrested by the police.

Kochi: A 22-year-old Thrissur native died after his bike rammed a mini truck at Ambattukavu near Aluva at 7pm on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Bejosten of Thalore. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man, identified as Kunjumohammed of Perumbavoor, died after a trailer rammed his bike at Pulinchode on Saturday evening.
