There were seven parameters given to classify a school in difficult terrain and if the school met even four of these seven set parameters then it is categorized as a school in difficult terrain. This is a standard format given by the state government.”
A preliminary list of schools in difficult terrain was first announced by the education office on March 16 this year and the teachers and officials were told to submit their suggestions or objections to the declared list.
In the preliminary list, there were 768 schools. “Based on the parameters, 413 schools were disqualified after we considered suggestions and objections from the teachers,” Gaikwad added.
The gram vikas committee of every taluka was given the responsibility to conduct the survey and submit the list to the education office.
Gaikwad said, “As per rules, the seniormost teachers get a chance to work in schools that are easily accessible, and teachers who have worked in easily accessible schools for a long time get transferred to the difficult terrains.”
