31 percent of children were born malnourished in Surat municipality-run skimmer, 4 percent died at birth!

Surat: 7236 babies were born in a year in the municipality-run Smeer Hospital. 31 percent of these children were born malnourished. Out of which 4 percent of children died at birth. Shocking statistics of malnourished babies born in the past eleven months have come to light at the Smimmer Hospital. The figure came out in response to a question put to the board by Mahesh Anaghan, along with members of the Smeemer Hospital Committee and AAP’s city worker Rachna Hirpara.

Allegation of non-benefit of the scheme

According to statistics on malnourished children, 2284 malnourished children were born from November 1, 2021 to October 30, 2022. Out of which 165 underdeveloped children died at birth and 128 children died after treatment. Not only this, it has been alleged that pregnant women are not getting the benefits of the ‘Sagarbha Mahila Yojana’, which is available to the state government, behind the birth of malnourished children.

Showed readiness to write a letter to the Prime Minister

Apart from this, according to the committee members, 7236 children were born in the Smeer Hospital run by the Municipal Corporation from November 1, 2021 to October 30, 2022. Apart from this, both the members alleged that the number of malnourished children is not being properly benefited from the state government’s schemes for pregnant women. Both the members have expressed their readiness to write a letter to the Prime Minister, State Government and Municipal Commissioner in this matter.
