Cold weather in Delhi: Citizens are stranded, train-flight timetables are disrupted

Cold weather has started once again in North India, orange alert has been given in Delhi, timetable of many trains has been affected by cold, some trains are running late due to fog. A cold wave condition has arisen in the capital city of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Delhi for Sunday. Due to low visibility, the timetable of many flights is also affected.

The passenger shared his experience about the weather and said, “Visibility at the airport is very low due to the cold wave, we have experienced the cold.” Early Sunday morning scenes have emerged showing very low visibility. Similarly, many trains are also affected due to smog. It includes trains such as Mahabodhi Express, Farakka Express, Skarna Kranti Express, Gorakhdham Superfast Express and Padmavati Express.

According to the Delhi Airport official, the flight was diverted till 6 am on Sunday. “The timetable of around 20 flights was affected by the cold,” the official said while talking to ANI.

Delhiites shivered on Saturday due to increasing cold. Delhi became colder than the hill stations of Jammu and Kashmir including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

The effect of cold wave is predicted to continue on Sunday in Rajasthan, Haryana and Chandigarh, including Delhi. However, after two days, the weather department has predicted that the cold will subside and get relief from it. The Meteorological Department has said that the reason behind this is Western Disturbance.

In other states of the country like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, the force of cold will decrease in the near future. The effect of cold wave will decrease in states including Delhi. Due to the cold wave, it is also having a major impact on people’s lives.

Gujarat has also seen a reduction in intensity after a cold snap with thundershowers earlier in the week. The state Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility that the force of cold will reduce, but there may be another cold flash in the next day.
