Modi to visit Varanasi on March 24 | Latest News India | Times Of Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will Varanasi on March 24 where he will address One World TB Summit and dedicate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth over 1780 crore, the Prime Minister’s Office said on Wednesday. PM Modi will address the One World TB Summit at around 10.30am at Rudrakash Convention Centre on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day.

During the event, the prime minister will also launch various initiatives including the TB-Mukt Panchayat initiative, official pan-India roll-out of a shorter TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), family-centric care model for TB, and release of India’s Annual TB Report 2023. Some select states and Union terroritories will be rewarded for their progress towards ending the infectious bacterial disease.

World TB Summit will provide an opportunity to further deliberate upon the TB-related SDG targets as India moves forward to meet its TB elimination objectives, the release said.

“It will also be an opportunity to showcase learnings from National TB Elimination Programmes. International delegates from over 30 countries are scheduled to be present at the summit,” it added.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone of several development initiatives, including a passenger ropeway, a sewage treatment plant, an LPG bottling plant.

The passenger ropeway from Varanasi Cantt station to Godowlia is estimated to be around 645 crore. The ropeway system will be 3.75 km in length with five stations, facilitating ease of movement for the tourists, pilgrims and residents of Varanasi. The sewage treatment plant at Bhagwanpur under Namami Ganga Scheme will be built at cost of more than 300 crore.

Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate various projects under the Varanasi Smart City Mission, including redevelopment work of Rajghat and Mahmoorganj government schools, beautification of internal city roads, redevelopment of six parks and ponds of the city among others.
