There is no doubt that the fight for Bakhmut is an ego battle and a political prize for whoever takes control of the crucial mining city. The latest report by the German newspaper Bild is proof of this perception amid the war. According to Ukrainian officials quoted in the Bild report, an internal conflict exists between the Ukrainian president and Army Chief General Valery Zaluzhny. As per the report, the Ukrainian Army Chief wants to withdraw from Bakhmut, where the Russians are in a commanding position, but Volodymyr Zelensky is not ready. The Ukrainian army has admitted that the war with Russia in Baku is hampering their fight. In this battle, the Ukrainian army suffered heavy casualties and weapon losses.
