Bengaluru landlord rejects tenant over Class 12 marks | Trending | Times Of Ahmedabad

Searching for a rented apartment in metro cities like Bengaluru can be challenging, with several hurdles to cross. Just when you think you’ve found the perfect place, landlords come up with an endless list of requirements to dash your hopes. Not only do they ask tenants for proof of employment, but also about academic scores and the colleges they graduated from. Some even request social media profiles and small write-ups. And even if you submit everything the landlord asked, you can still face rejection. Unfortunately, this was the reality for Yogesh, who was initially accepted by a landlord but later rejected because of his Class 12 exam marks.

The WhatsApp screenshots of a conversation between Yogesh and a broker named Brijesh have gone viral online. The broker informs Yogesh that the owner has approved his profile and asks him to share a few documents, including the 10th and 12th marksheet. But it didn’t end there. The broker went on to request a 150-200 word write-up on behalf of the owner.

According to the screenshot, Yogesh mailed all the required documents and even shared a write-up about him. Despite this, he was rejected by the landlord based on his class 12 marks. The landlord expected a minimum of 90% in Class 12, highlighting how even academic performance can play a critical role in securing a rented apartment in the city.

“Marks don’t decide your future, but it definitely decides whether you get a flat in Bengaluru or not,” wrote Twitter user Shubh while sharing the screenshots.

“Bro it’s true. Also, if you tell your maid that you work in some IT company, she will ask you 30k monthly for the households, and by any chance if you are able to convince her that you don’t work in IT, then the charges drop down to 9k,” posted an individual. To this, the original poster replied and wrote, “Haha, the owner asked for 80k per month when he came to know my cousin is shifting from Canada to Bengaluru for 6 months for work purpose.”

Another added, “Soon we will have an entrance exam for Bengaluru flats!!!” “Was the owner looking for a tenant or for a private tutor for his own kid?” commented a third. A fourth shared, “Damn! This is next level!” A fifth expressed, “Thank God my father built a house for me, if not I wouldn’t be eligible for a hut in Bengaluru.”
