The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant bail on medical grounds to Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji who was arrested in a money laundering case.
A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, after perusing the medical report, said that the condition was not “serious or life threatening” and bail cannot be granted to him.
The court, however, said that he can apply for regular bail and clarified that any observation made by Madras high court while rejecting his plea shall not come in the way of the petitioner in filing regular bail application and the trial court would decide the case without being influenced by the observation.
