Mumbai: Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders met on Saturday to draft a strategy for the ensuing winter session of the state legislature beginning at Nagpur from December 7.
The meeting was attended by MPCC president Nana Patole, leader of the opposition Vijay Wadettiwar, Congress legislature party leader Balasaheb Thorat, Shiv Sena’s Anil Parab, NCP’s Jeetendra Awhad, former chief minister Ashok Chavan and Samajwadi Party’s Abu Azmi.
Thorat said it’s a foregone conclusion that Congress will win in Rajasthan, MP, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
He said there was discussion on the short winter session. “We will press for a longer duration. We want a discussion on key issues before the state and failure of the Eknath Shinde government on all fronts. The government has failed to tackle drought and is yet to provide financial assistance to farmers affected by unseasonal rains,” he said. Wadettiwar said at a juncture when the drug mafia has taken over the state, no stringent measures have been taken by the home department led by Devendra Fadnavis. Patole said the government has failed to resolve the row over Maratha reservation. — Prafulla Marpakwar
