Mumbai: Two men were arrested by the Kurar police for duping bank customers at ATMs by swapping their debit cards with expired ones and later withdrawing money from their bank accounts. The duo, Pradyum Yadav (24) and Vivek Pandey (23) have 16 other cheating cases in their names. The police have recovered 117 ATM cards from the labourers.
Two latest cases were reported in the Malad-Goregaon belt on December 3.In the first case, a teenager was trying to withdraw Rs 30,000 when one of the accused offered to help him and punched some keys of the machine. The teenager couldn’t get the money but the accused pocketed it.
In the second case, a 27-year-old man was trying to withdraw money from an ATM at Kurar village when the accused offered help. They fraudulently withdrew Rs 22500 from his bank account and pocketed the money, the police said. TNN
