Questions are being raised on the claims of AAP leaders and Delhi government ministers regarding the weight of Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal. AAP government ministers, MPs and others are constantly claiming that Kejriwal has lost 8.5 kg. On the ongoing claim regarding Arvind Kejriwal’s weight, the jail superintendent wrote to the Home Department of the Delhi government that when Kejriwal came to Tihar for the first time on April 1, 2024, his weight was 65 kg. When Arvind Kejriwal left Tihar on May 10, his weight was 64 kg. When he surrendered in jail on June 2, his weight was 63.5 kg. Currently his weight is 61.5 (July 14) kg.
The jail superintendent also informed that weight loss can also be due to eating less food or low calorie intake. Arvind Kejriwal undergoes daily checkups under the supervision of senior health officials, and his wife Sunita Kejriwal is also present during consultation with the medical board as per the court order. Some ministers of the Delhi government, a sitting MP and other MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party have made baseless allegations through social media posts. This is an attempt to spread false information and confuse the public with the intention of intimidating the jail administration.
