Jakarta. More than 1,300 people died during this year’s Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Among these dead is Ngatijo Wongso, a resident of Indonesia. However, his daughter says that the family is happy with the death of 86-year-old Wongso.
Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. This year, 125 citizens of Indonesia were among those who lost their lives during Hajj in Mecca. According to Saudi Arabian officials, about 18 lakh people had performed Hajj this year, out of which more than 1,300 people died. The cause of death of most of these people is believed to be the scorching heat.

According to a CNN report, Indonesian citizen Wongso’s daughter Heru Jumartia says that her father died on 17 June while waiting for Zohar (afternoon) prayers in Mecca. She says, ‘My father was very excited about going on Hajj. He wanted to go to Mecca immediately. Even during the Hajj pilgrimage, everyone said that he was healthy. But on 17 June, he was found dead in his tent in Mina, located south-east of Mecca.

Let us tell you that performing Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim who is financially and physically capable is required to visit the holy city of Mecca at least once in his life. Many Muslims save money for Hajj for years and are able to do so in old age. Muslims believe that the land of Mecca is extremely holy and death and burial there is a blessing.
This is the reason for the happiness of Wongso’s family after his death. His daughter Jumartia says, ‘We are happy that he was buried in Mecca.’ Along with this, she expressed the hope that when she goes on Haj pilgrimage, she will definitely visit her father’s grave.
