Seoul. North Korea has again released balloons towards South Korea on Monday night. South Korea’s army has expressed apprehension that these may contain garbage. This type of experiment is being described as a new phase of Cold War campaign in the Korean Peninsula. The Joint Chief of Staff said in a statement that the balloons are moving towards South (Korea). This incident has come to light a few days after the signing of a major defense agreement between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Observer countries are concerned that this agreement may lead Kim to take more provocative actions against South Korea. Earlier on Monday, it was said that the army is closely monitoring North Korea’s activities in view of the forecast of north or northwest wind favorable for releasing the balloon.
The army has issued a statement appealing the people of South Korea not to touch these balloons and have been asked to inform the army and police officials about this, although the army has not said what it will do in response to the release of balloons. It is being said that Kim Jong Un’s action can trigger tension in both the countries even more. Due to this, a situation of war can arise.
I have done this work before
Earlier in late May, North Korea had released a series of balloons, which dropped dung manure, cigarette butts, pieces of cloth, waste batteries and plastic in various parts of South Korea, although no dangerous material was found. North Korea had said at that time that this balloon-releasing campaign was a retaliatory action against those in South Korea who had thrown political pamphlets against the country’s government on their border.
