Gadar 2 Movie Review: The sensation created by Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s film ‘Gadar’ in the year 2000 is still echoed in stories. In that era, people reached the cinema halls in tractors to watch director Anil Sharma’s film. After 23 years, Anil Sharma has brought the story of Tara Singh and Sakina’s ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. The second installment of this film of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel has been released in cinemas today. In this story set in Lahore of 1971, Tara Singh goes alone to Pakistan and fights for his love. Years ago, this story was well liked by the audience. Let’s see, even after 23 years, will this story of Tara Singh and Sakina be able to create ‘Gadar’? Let me tell you through this review.
Know what the story says: Tara Singh and Sakina now live in Pathankot with their son Jeete. Jeete is obsessed with films and Tara Singh wants his son to study and become a big man, not a truck driver like him. On the other hand, Pakistani Major Hamid has hatred for Tara Singh and wants to kill him at any cost. A twist comes in Tara Singh’s life when once again his son gets stuck in Pakistan. Tara, who saved Sakina last time, will save his son Jeete this time. Now to see how this happens, you will have to go and watch the film.
acting and direction
Talking about acting, Sunny Deol has once again shined in the role of Tara Singh. Whether it is melting in front of Sakina or the angry scenes, you will like Sunny Deol’s style. Amisha Patel has nothing more to do than cry and blush. She has been fine. This time Utkarsh Sharma has been given a lot of space in the film. Utkarsh looks fine in his style. However, he seems to be overacting at many places. Manish Wadhwa has done the job of filling the void of Amrish Puri. Wadhwa looks good in the role of Major Hamid. He looks as dangerous as he should have.
Sunny Deol is making a blockbuster comeback with Gadar 2.
what will work
The first half of the film is quite light and enhances the story. In the beginning, Nana Patekar’s voice is heard to tell the background of the characters, which looks good. If you have not seen ‘Gadar’ recently, then you will not need to watch it again to watch ‘Gadar 2’, because the entire first story is shown in the beginning. ‘Gadar 2’ will get full marks for nostalgia. Whether it is the songs of ‘Gadar’ or the glimpse of the old characters, many memories of the old film will definitely come to mind. In the first half, the story turns from light to emotional. ‘Gadar 2’ is a full-on masala entertainer film and all its strength lies in its dialogues. There are many dialogues in the film when you will clap and whistle. In the climax of the film, the entire situation of ‘Hindustan Zindabad’ has been created and believe me, there will be someone in the entire theatre who will definitely chant this slogan while watching this film.
what won’t fit
The weakness of the film can be its length which is irritating. There are too many songs and their length is also quite long. Songs come every few minutes which spoil the pace of the story. This heaviness is felt more after the interval. There are many chase sequences in the second half, which start to bore after a certain limit. And yes, if after 23 years you are expecting a lot of logic behind the things happening in the film, then it is your mistake, not the makers’. Another thing, it is possible that after watching this film, you may lose faith in the power of guns, ammunition and bombs etc. It seems that all these are in the film just to blow dust and spit fire. Because no one is dying from these.
The audience declared Gadar 2 a superhit.
‘Gadar 2’ has come at a time when Hindi cinema is struggling with a lack of audience. But ‘Gadar 2’ has made the cinemas buzz again. People are coming with their children, family and friends even in the morning shows. This is a masala film which gives you everything it promises. 3 stars for this film from me.
