In 10 years, foreigners adopted about 5 thousand Indian children, Americans are at the forefront

Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, while answering a question in the Lok Sabha, said that in the last 10 years, about 5 thousand Indian children have been adopted by foreigners. So far, there has been no complaint of any child being abused or exploited.
According to government figures, foreigners have adopted 4,963 children in the last 10 years. The highest number of 2,031 children have been adopted in the US, followed by Italy 1,029, Spain 517, UAE 252 and Malta 215.
