The constable who attacked the bouncer at Centra Mall in the Industrial Area of Chandigarh has been suspended. Late on Wednesday night, after a minor argument over making a video, a Punjab Police constable and his associates attacked the bouncer with swords and sticks.

In the attack, the bouncer’s thumb was severed and he had about 30 stitches on his head, arm and finger. Taking cognizance of this matter, SSP Mohali Deepak Pareek suspended constable Raman Kumar and ordered a departmental inquiry against him.
Police is conducting raids in search of the accused constable The accused was posted in Mohali SSP office. He was posted as a gunman along with DSP Ajitpal of Crime Against Women (CAW) in the SSP office. Meanwhile, Chandigarh Police is conducting raids to arrest the accused constable and other accused. Industrial Area police station had registered a case against accused Raman Kumar and others under attempt to murder, snatching and other sections.
The constable had protested against making the video Victim Barinder Kumar told that he does bouncer duty in clubs. On Wednesday night at 2.30 am, he had gone to party at Centra Mall in the Industrial Area with his maternal uncle’s son Ravinder and two friends Sumit Rana and Vinay. Everyone was standing at the console near the DJ in the club. Ravinder was making snaps. Constable Raman Kumar opposed making the video and started arguing with him.
The matter calmed down after Barinder intervened. Ravinder also apologized to Raman for making the video. But after this, at around 3.30 pm, the accused attacked Barinder with swords and sticks and fled from the spot.
Bouncer’s condition critical, thumb could not join 31-year-old Barinder Kumar, resident of Kaimbwala, is seriously injured. He is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Sector-33. Half of his thumb was cut off. Sumit Rana, a friend of injured bouncer Barinder Kumar, told in his complaint to the police that after assaulting Barinder, the accused fled away with his phone, Rs 40,000 in cash and a gold chain.
