Kumar said, “EVMs cannot be hacked. Every claim of manipulation has been thoroughly investigated and refuted. This technology has consistently upheld the principles of free and fair elections.”

“On 42 different occasions, the judiciary has expressed confidence in EVMs. These machines represent years of technological development and are a matter of national pride,” he said.

Kumar also expressed concern over allegations of alleged manipulation in the voter list. This issue is much discussed this time in Delhi Assembly elections.

CEC’s response to allegations of irregularities in voter list

Political parties including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress have alleged irregularities in the voter list and claimed wrongful deletion and addition of names.

Responding to the allegations, Kumar stressed that the Election Commission strictly follows due process for any changes in the voter list.

He said, “Preparing the voter list is a transparent process in which political parties are involved at every level. These allegations are baseless. Disclosure is our main pillar, and detailed guidelines and datasets are available on our website.”

AAP has accused BJP of removing names in those assembly constituencies where it has a strong voter base. AAP leader and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had claimed in December that the BJP had tried to remove more than 11,000 names from the voter list in Shahdara assembly constituency. Kejriwal also alleged that a similar “Operation Lotus” was going on in his own constituency, New Delhi.
