Border Security Force (BSF) Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz was killed and seven other personnel were injured on Saturday, 10 May after Pakistan resorted to cross-border firing along the International Boundary in the RS Pura sector of Jammu district.

Imteyaz was reportedly leading his post from the front when he sustained critical injuries. He later succumbed to them.

A wreath-laying ceremony with full honours will be held at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Paloura, Jammu, on Sunday.

The announcement was made by BSF just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire.

Earlier on Saturday, the Indian Army said that Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, a resident of Shahpur in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, was killed in Pakistani shelling in Poonch.

Pakistan violated ceasefire at several locations across Jammu and Kashmir, with Indian forces intercepting drones in Srinagar and Udhampur. A blackout was again enforced in many cities, including Jammu, Pathankot, and Moga.

The violation comes just hours after Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that “India and Pakistan have agreed to stop all forms of firing, including on the ground, in the air, and at sea, starting at 17:00 local time (12:30 BST).” This followed a similar statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar. The announcement by the two nations came shortly after US President Donald Trump tweeted that “India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire” following US mediation.
