168 laborers and 65 masons were installed to apply only four liters of paint on the government school wall! Yes, don’t surprise you – this is not a mathematics question, the story of a real and shocking scam in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. The bills that went viral on social media have exposed the government machinery. ₹ 1.07 lakh was shown for installing just four liters of oil paint in a government school associated with Buhari assembly constituency. At the same time, ₹ 2.30 lakh was spent in the name of 20 liters of paint in another school in Nipania village. But this story does not end here.
Hard work more on bills than painting!
168 laborers and 65 masons were deployed to install 4 liters of paint on the wall of the school in Sakandi village, while 275 laborers and 150 masons were deployed to paint 10 windows and 4 doors of Nipania school – at least the same is on.
And the real ‘artwork’ was shown in the bill making and approval. The company named “Sudhakar Construction”, who did the construction work, made a bill on 5 May 2025, but it was also approved by the school principal on 4 April, a month ago. Not only this, where it is necessary to give “before and after work” according to the rules, the bills were passed without any photo.
Administration gathered under investigation
As soon as these scams went viral on social media, the matter started catching rapidly. District Education Officer Phool Singh Marapachi said, “The bills of these two schools are going viral on social media. Investigation is going on, and action will be taken on the basis of whatever facts will be revealed.”
This case is not only a living example of wastage of government money, but also shows how millions can be looted by showing work in a miraculous manner on paper. Now it will have to be seen what the neck gets stuck after the investigation-of those who paint or maneuvers.
