Slow internet due to cable cut in the Red Sea, 17% global traffic affected including Microsoft Azure - Red SEA CABLES CUTS CRIPLE Microsoft Azure Disrupt 17 Percent 17 Percent of Global Internet Traffic

Internet Traffic: Fiber optic cables have been damaged in the Red Sea, due to which the Internet has slowed down worldwide. Users are facing delays and slow speed. It has also had a major impact on Microsoft’s Azure. In fact, the cable laid in the Red Sea is very important for the access to the Internet worldwide. A large part of all the internet that runs between Europe and Asia passes through these stars. This is the reason why 17% of the global internet traffic has been interrupted.

Damaged cables include major systems like Seacom/TGN-EA, AAE-1 and EIG, which disrupted a large part of data flow between continents

Effect on Microsoft and other companies

In a status update, Microsoft reported that Azure users may have to face problems in traffic, especially in Asia and Europe. The company says that it will take time for these wires to recover, so they are currently running the data by sending other routes. They are persistent monitoring, rebalansing and routing to reduce the effects on users.

What can be the reason?

Officials are still finding out what was the reason for the cutting of cables. The cause of previous incidents in the Red Sea is often considered anchor dropped by commercial ships, although in some cases there has also been a doubt of deliberate sabotage. Experts fear that significant digital infrastructure may be deliberately targeted due to the ongoing conflicts in the region, which will further increase the danger to global connectivity.
