BHOPAL: A 60-year-old man was killed in Anuppur district after being attacked by his wife and her lover, who wrapped his body in a sack and blanket before disposing of it in a well, police reported on Friday. The murder took place late on Aug 30 at Sakariya village. The next morning, the body was spotted floating in the well by the man’s second wife, Guddi Bai.
According to police, Bhaiyalal Rajak was asleep on a cot at his under-construction home when his third wife, Munni alias Vimla Rajak (38), conspired with her lover, Narayan Das Kushwaha alias Lallu (48), and laborer Dheeraj Kol (25) to eliminate him. Around 2 am, Lallu and Dheeraj entered the house and bludgeoned Bhaiyalal to death with an iron rod. They then bound the body with sarees and ropes before dumping it in the well behind the house.Guddi, the second wife, discovered the body drifting in the well on Aug 31 and informed the authorities. A postmortem confirmed that death was due to severe head injuries.SP Motiur Rahman stated that Bhaiyalal had three marriages: after his first wife left, he married Guddi; since they had no children together, he also married Guddi’s younger sister Munni, who gave him two children. Lallu, a property broker acquainted with the family for years, grew close to Munni, and together they hatched the plan to kill Bhaiyalal for a future together, Rahman said.All three accused have been arrested and remanded in police custody. Officers recovered the victim’s mobile phone from the well, and further investigations are ongoing.
