Mumbai Metro Aqua Line-3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugrated the final phase of Mumbai Metro Aqua Line-3, marking a key milestone in easing commuting across the city. The latest Mumbai Metro Line-3 phase, constructed at a cost of over Rs 12,000 crore is set to be a crucial link connecting business hubs, entertainment zones and the airport.

- When will the final phase begin operating?
Operations at the newly constructed metro line will commence from October 9, 2025.Key interchanges along the route will integrate the metro with the existing transport network, including stops at Mumbai Central, CSMT Metro and Churchgate for the suburban railways and Marol Naka for Metro Line 1. The line also offers direct connectivity to the Domestic (T1) and International (T2) Airports. Moving south from Worli, the final stretch adds 11 new stations: Science Museum, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai Central, Grant Road, Girgaon, Kalbadevi, CSMT Metro, Hutatma Chowk, Churchgate, Vidhan Bhavan and the terminus at Cuffe Parade. The phase 2B will cut the travel time from Cuffe Parade to Aarey JVLR to less than an hour. Trains will be available every five minutes from 5:55 AM to 10:30 PM. According to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC,) the travel fare starts from Rs 10 and goes up to Rs 70.The Mumbai metro line-3 is the first underground metro connecting South Mumbai. It will be covering key areas like Kalbadevi, Girgaon and Cuffe Parade. The crucial Phase 2B, will connect Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade. It will link key centres including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Bombay High Court, Mantralaya, and Nariman Point.The metro will also provide seamless access to heritage and cultural areas like Fort, Kala Ghoda, and Marine Drive.The phase was built at an estimated cost of Rs 12,200 crore while the final cost of the project is over Rs 37,270 crore.With Phase 2B, the entire Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Aqua Line) spanning 33.5 km with 27 stations will be dedicated to the nation. Out of 27, 26 stations will be underground.The line is designed to serve around 13 lakh passengers daily.
