Reliance Jio launches its first laptop at ₹19,500: Features and availability

Reliance Jio has launched its first laptop in the country. The laptop is listed on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal that reveals its specifications and price. Listed as Jio Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 11.6 Inch Netbook, the laptop costs ₹19,500. Although it is already on sale, not everyone can buy it. Only government departments can shop via the GeM portal. It is expected that the laptop will be made available for the general public during Diwali. JioBook is already on display at the ongoing 6th edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC), 2022.

Jio laptop features

As listed on the Government e-Marketplace website, the laptop is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor. It features a standard form factor and comes with metallic hinges. The chassis is made of ABS plastic. The laptop runs on the company’s own JioOS operating system.

The specifications sheet on the page reveals that the Jio laptop packs 2GB LPDDR4X RAM. There is no RAM expandability support on the device. The RAM is paired with 32GB eMMC storage.

Coming to the display, the Jio laptop has a 11.6-inch HD LED backlit anti-glare display. The screen is non-touch and features a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. Ports on the device include a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 port and an HDMI port. There are no USB Type-C ports available on it. However, there is a microSD card slot available.

Wireless connectivity on the laptop is supported by Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The device features Bluetooth connectivity and comes with Bluetooth version 5.2. It also supports 4G mobile broadband connectivity. Jio laptop comes with dual internal speakers and dual microphones. The device comes paired with a standard size keyboard and a touchpad with multi-gesture support. However, there is no fingerprint scanner on the device.

In terms of battery, the Jio laptop has a battery capacity of 55.1-60Ah with a backup of up to 8 hours. The device weighs 1.2 kg and comes with a one-year brand warranty.

Gujarat to Host Law Ministers’ Conference Mid-October; BJP Hopes for Poll Traction

Sources said law secretaries may represent states or UTs in cases where the Chief Minister holds the law portfolio as well. The government is also planning to arrange for the law ministers to visit the Statute of Unity on the evening of the conference

The Centre is set to host law ministers of states and Union Territories across the country for a conference mid-October in Kevadia town of poll-bound Gujarat. At the conference, detailed discussions will be held on various laws proposed and enacted by the Narendra Modi government.

The conference comes just days Gujarat hosted mayors of BJP-ruled states, where they were given training in strengthening the organisation in their region as well as in poll-bound states they visit campaigning. While the mayors’ gathering was exclusive to the BJP, the law conference will invite law ministers of all states.

Many in the party believe the venue has been chosen after much deliberation keeping in mind the upcoming Assembly elections.

“There should be action on the ground and the state should be showcased, especially to those who belong to the Opposition camp. It helps in gaining momentum in the state where there are elections,” said the source.

Sources added that law secretaries may represent states or UTs in cases where the Chief Ministers hold the law portfolio as well, as it may not be possible for them to attend the conference.

The government is also planning to arrange for the law ministers to visit the Statute of Unity on the evening of the conference.

The conference is likely to discuss and deliberate on progressive steps like shedding colonial laws that were meant to serve British interests. “It is generally an enriching experience for all law ministers to adopt best practices used by other states and learn from them. It is also a platform to deliberate on steps to ensure transparency in the system or gathering an opinion from various states on laws the government would want to bring in future,” said the source.

Gujarat is slated to go to polls in December for 182 Assembly seats.

Delhi Woman Hospitalised After Being Attacked By Gold Chain Snatcher

New Delhi:

A 35-year-woman was injured after being attacked on her face and back with a knife allegedly by a man who robbed her gold chain and fled the spot on a motorcycle, the Delhi Police said today.

The incident took place yesterday around 5.30 pm in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura area, police said.

The woman, a resident of west Ghonda in Delhi, was returning to her home from Faridabad with her five-year-old son in a rickshaw. After getting down from the rickshaw, while she was heading towards her home, she was attacked from behind by a man.

She alleged in her statement that the man attacked her in his bid to snatch her gold chain. But resisting his attempt, she held her chain tight. However, he took out a knife and attacked her on her face and back, a senior police officer said.

The accused robbed the woman of her gold chain and ran away on the street and fled the spot with his accomplice who was waiting a few metres away on his motorcycle, he said.

Later, her brother took her to a hospital, he added.

A case has been registered under sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) 326 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, police said, adding further investigation is underway to nab the accused.

CCTV cameras installed in and around the vicinity of the crime scene are being analysed to identify the suspects and ascertain the sequence of events that unfolded on the day of the incident, police said.

The prize, arguably among the most prestigious in the scientific world, is awarded by the Nobel Assembly of Sweden’s Karolinska Institute and is worth 10 million Swedish crowns ($900,357).

Created in the will of Swedish dynamite inventor and wealthy businessman Alfred Nobel, the prizes for achievements in science, literature and peace have been awarded since 1901, though the economics prize is a later addition.

The Nobel laureates in physics have conducted groundbreaking experiments using entangled quantum states, where two particles behave like a single unit even when they are separated. The results have cleared the way for new technology based upon quantum information.

While physicists often tackle problems that appear at first glance to be far removed from everyday concerns — tiny particles and the vast mysteries of space and time — their research provides the foundations for many practical applications of science.
Intense research and development are underway to utilise the special properties of individual particle systems to construct quantum computers, improve measurements, build quantum networks and establish secure quantum encrypted communication.
Last year the prize was awarded to three scientists — Syukuro Manabe, Klaus Hasselmann and Giorgio Parisi — whose work has helped to explain and predict complex forces of nature, thereby expanding our understanding of climate change.
A week of Nobel Prize announcements kicked off on Monday with Swedish scientist Svante Paabo receiving the award in medicine for unlocking secrets of Neanderthal DNA that provided key insights into our immune system.

They continue with chemistry on Wednesday and literature on Thursday. The 2022 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday and the economics award on October 10.

The prizes carry a cash award of 10 million Swedish kronor (nearly $900,000) and will be handed out on December 10.

The money comes from a bequest left by the prize’s creator, Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel, who died in 1895.

Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), opposed the application arguing that Deshmukh did not suffer from any ailments that cannot be treated at jail hospital.Arrested by the ED in November 2021, Deshmukh is now in judicial custody.

The ED booked him after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a corruption case against him following allegations made by former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh.The ED claimed that Deshmukh misused his official position and collected Rs 4.7 crore from various bars and restaurants in Mumbai.

The ill-gotten money was channelled to Nagpur-based Shri Sai Shikshan Sansthan, an educational trust controlled by his family, it alleged.

One of the earliest public examples of Harry and Meghan’s challenges as royals was their interview with ITV for their documentary “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.” In the royal limelight, Meghan spoke candidly about her hardships as a mother and newlywed. ITV’s Tom Bradby even confronted Harry about his feud with his brother, which he did not deny.

“We are certainly on different paths at the moment, but I will always be there for him, as I know he will always be there for me,” Prince Harry said in the documentary.

When Prince William and Kate were touring Pakistan, the interview dominated press coverage, and it unavoidably overshadowed their visit.

In the book, according to The Post, William allegedly arranged a meeting with Harry, who initially agreed in the hopes of making atonement after he and Markle levelled multiple allegations against the royal family.

According to the book, the Duke of Sussex changed his mind shortly after agreeing and refused the offer. When Harry asked William who he would inform about the meeting, William responded that the Prince’s private secretary would need to be informed in order to put it on his calendar.

The book claims that Harry preferred they not go rather than run the risk of the visit being reported in the media because he was worried William’s team would tell the press about it.

According to New York Post, five months before Harry and Meghan left the royal family and moved to Canada, Prince William made the effort to mend fences with his brother.

જમ્મુ અને કાશ્મીર માટે ડિજિટલ J&K લોગો અને ટેગલાઇનના લોન્ચ સાથે, 250 ઇન્ફર્મેશન ટેક્નોલોજીના નાગરિકો ઓનલાઇન સુવિધાઓ બનાવશે. 920 કિલોમીટરના 128 રોડ પ્રોજેક્ટનો શિલાન્યાસ કરશે જેના પર 1111.96 કરોડ રૂપિયાનો ખર્ચ થશે.

Rapper, Drafted, Dies By Suicide, Calls Putin "Maniac"

New Delhi:

A 27-year-old Russian rapper has died by suicide in order to avoid being conscripted into the war that his country is fighting against Ukraine, media reported.

His name was among those drafted to fight against Ukraine and according to New York Post, he committed suicide after declaring that he was “not ready to kill for any ideals.”

New York Post translated the news published in a Russian news portal that reported that the rapper, identified as Ivan Vitalievich Petunin, was found dead on Friday after he jumped from a high-rise building in Krasnodar.

Ivan used to perform under the stage name ‘Walkie’.

The rapper’s death was later confirmed by his girlfriend and mother, according to The Post. He committed suicide by jumping off from the 10th floor of the building.

New York Post then quoted a local media report that suggested that the rapper recorded a heart-wrenching video message on Telegram before taking his life.

In a 2-minutes-16 seconds long video shared by TMZ, the rapper is heard speaking in Russian “If you are watching this video, then I am no longer alive.” The sentences were translated by TMZ.

“I can’t take the sin of murder on my soul and I don’t want to. I am not ready to kill for any ideals. To murder someone in war or otherwise is something I cannot do,” the rapper said.

He later called Putin a “maniac” and said, “It seems to me that partial mobilization will become full in a few days.”

“Forgive me, my loved ones, but sometimes you have to die for your principles,” he concluded.

Walkie had roughly 40,000 monthly Spotify listeners, and his song which “Neirotokcin,” translates to “Neurotoxin,” received nearly 2 million streams. According to his Bandcamp page, the recording artist has been producing songs since 2013.

According to New York Post, Petunin had previously served in the army and had been treated in a mental hospital, according to reports. Petunin said in a letter to his girlfriend that the sham “referendums” held by Russia last week resulted in annexing four regions of Ukraine – “everyone will go to the front lines.”

He continued, “People with psychosocial ailments even worse than mine are already being sent there without any hesitation.”

According to New York Post, Many Russian men fled the warring country in droves or broke their own arms to avoid being recruited into military combat in the aftermath of Putin’s Sept. 21 address, which called for 300,000 reservists to be dispatched to battle.

Since the announcement, around 2 lakh Russians have fled to neighbouring Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Finland, incurring 10-year prison sentences if apprehended.

Amit Shah Offers Prayers At Vaishno Devi Temple In Jammu

His visit coincides with the ninth day of the ongoing Navratri festival.

Jammu:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah offered prayers at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra on Tuesday morning.

The Home Minister reached the Katra shrine via the Sanjhichatt Helipad. He was accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister Jitendra Singh.

This is Mr Shah’s first visit to the holy cave shrine after being appointed as the Union Home Minister.

His visit coincides with the ninth day of the ongoing Navratri festival.

Mr Shah is scheduled to later address a public meeting at Rajouri, which is around one-and-half hours away from the Vaishno Devi temple.

The Minister will further launch development projects and also lay foundation stones for various projects at Convention Centre in Jammu.

Mr Shah will then hold a public meeting in Rajouri and offer prayers at the Raghunath Temple in Jammu.

He will also inspect various developmental projects here before heading to the Kashmir valley.

Later in the evening, the Home Minister will hold a number of crucial meetings including the ones regarding the security situation in the region.

On Wednesday (October 5), Mr Shah will review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir at a meeting that is slated to be held at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.

LG Manoj Sinha, top officials of the Army, paramilitary forces, state police and civil administration will take part in this high-level meeting expected to begin at 10 am tomorrow.

The Minister will later address a public meeting here at Baramulla around 11.30 am and will address the gathering.

Before concluding his visit to the Union Territory, Mr Shah will also launch and lay foundation stones for various development projects in Srinagar around 3.30 pm.

Various programmes have been scheduled to take place during his visit to the valley including the ones which will be held by communities like Bakarwal and Gujjars to honour Mr Shah on behalf of the Modi government for working for the welfare of these communities.

In a surprising move, the Modi government recently nominated Ghulam Ali to the Rajya Sabha. Ali joined BJP in 2008 and hails from the Gujjar tribe.

Several organisational meetings are on the cards too including the state core group meeting and meeting with party MPs and MLAs.

This is the second visit by Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 by the Modi government in August 2019.

Meanwhile, Mr Shah on Monday met people from different communities including Gujjar-Bakarwal, Rajput, Pahari and Jammu Sikh Community.

અમદાવાદના (Ahmedabad) મેઘાણીનગર વિસ્તારમાં દુકાનનું પોસ્ટર ફાડવા જેવી નજીવી બાબતે થયેલ ઝઘડો હત્યામાં પરિણમ્યો છે. પોસ્ટર ફાડવા મામલે એક યુવકની હત્યા થઈ છે. સમગ્ર મામલે પોલીસે (Ahmedabad police) હત્યા કરનાર આરોપી મહેન્દ્રકુમાર ઉર્ફે માઈકલ શર્મા, અચલ કુમાર અને મંકુ શર્માની ધરપકડ કરી છે.

પોલીસે ત્રણ આરોપીની કરી ધરપકડ

ઘટના કંઈક એવી છે કે નવરાત્રીના (Navratri 2022) ગરબા જોવા માટે વિશાલ ગુપ્તા અને તેના બે મિત્રો અનિકેત દિવાકર અને રિતેશ શાહ ભાર્ગવ રોડ પરથી પસાર થઈ રહ્યા હતા ત્યારે આ ત્રણેય આરોપીઓ તેમની નજીક આવ્યા અને દુકાનમાં લગાવેલું પ્લાસ્ટિકનું પોસ્ટર ફાડવા બાબતે ઝઘડો કરીને ત્રણેય મિત્રોને મારવા લાગ્યા હતા. ત્યાર બાદ પેટના કમરના ભાગેથી ખંજર કાઢીને અનિકેતને મારવા જતા વિશાલ ગુપ્તા છોડવા વચ્ચે પડયો હતો, જેથી આરોપીઓએ વિશાલ ગુપ્તા પર છરીથી હુમલો કર્યો જેમાં વિશાલનું સારવાર દરમિયાન મોત નિપજ્યું છે.

હત્યાને પગલે આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં અરેરાટી

આ હત્યા કેસની તપાસમાં સામે આવ્યું કે આરોપી માઈકલ શર્માની પત્ની બ્યુટી પાર્લર આવેલુ છે. આ શોપ પર પ્લાસ્ટિકનું પોસ્ટર લગાવ્યું હતું આ પોસ્ટર કોઈએ ફાડી નાખતા આરોપીઓને શંકા હતી કે પોસ્ટર વિશાલ ગુપ્તા અને તેના મિત્રોએ ફાડ્યું છે જેથી સામાન્ય બાબતે ઝઘડો કરી આરોપીઓએ વિશાલ ગુપ્તાની હત્યા કરી હતી. હાલમાં મેઘાણીનગર પોલીસે આ ત્રણેય આરોપીઓની ધરપકડ કરી વધુ પૂછપરછ હાથ ધરી છે. મેઘાણીનગર વિસ્તારમાં નવરાત્રીના પર્વમાં ખૂની ખેલ ખેલાતા સમગ્ર વિસ્તારમાં અરેરાટી વ્યાપી છે. તમને જણાવી દઈએ કે, મેઘાણીનગર પોલીસે હત્યા કરનાર આરોપીની ધરપકડ બાદ તેઓના ગુનાઈ ઇતિહાસને લઈને પણ તપાસ શરૂ કરી છે.
