Messages from Shah's J&K Visit Hit Home

No bulletproof shield while speaking in Baramulla which was once a militancy hotspot, a visit to downtown Srinagar in a first for a union home minister in recent times, and business as usual at Lal Chowk with no strike or hartal — these were the big takeaways from Amit Shah’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Like in Srinagar during his visit last year to J&K, Amit Shah got the bulletproof shield removed during his public address in Baramulla on Thursday. This was part of the messaging that things were normal in the Valley now on the front of terrorism and the home minister was also seen briefly mingling with the crowd at his public meeting.

Marked change

What also caught everyone’s attention was that Lal Chowk and other areas of Srinagar were open during the home minister’s visit, in a departure from the past when calls for strike were given during such high-profile visits from Delhi and shop shutters were downed. In fact, the entire Kashmir Valley was open during Shah’s visit.

Shah’s visit to Gurdwara Chatti Patshahi in downtown Srinagar also is a significant move as this is the first time that a union home minister was in the Rainawari area, which has been notorious for stone-pelting and grenade attacks in the past. In 2016, then union home minister Rajnath Singh had visited the Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar.

Shah’s message

In his public speeches during his visit to J&K, Shah unequivocally denounced terrorism and stressed that the union territory was on the path of normalcy. “Prime Minister Modi wants separatism and terrorism to end here and Jammu & Kashmir is becoming India’s paradise. I appeal to people to uproot terror from Jammu and Kashmir…Modi government will not tolerate terror at all,” Shah said in Baramulla. The minister said that this was earlier a “terrorist hotspot” and now it had become a “tourist hotspot”.

“In Kashmir Valley, earlier maximum 6 lakh tourists used to visit every year, whereas this year till now 22 lakh tourists have visited. This has given employment to thousands of youth. Earlier, stones and guns were given in the hands of the youth of the Valley, but today Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given mobiles and laptops to the youth by setting up industries so that the youth can get employment,” Shah said in his meeting in Baramulla.

He said people of Kashmir should think with open eyes and open minds as to what good did those who spread terror do to the Valley. “Today all the states of the country are moving forward, Kashmir should also move forward for the same purpose,” Shah said, asking people that if someone in their village supports terrorists, they should explain things to such persons and bring them back into the mainstream, “as terror and terrorism cannot do any good to Kashmir”.

મેન્યૂફેકચરીંગ આઉટપૂટમાં સૌથી વધુ યોગદાન ગુજરાતના ૩૩ લાખ જેટલા MSME

ભાવનગર શહેરમાં બપોરના સમયે ઉનાળાને યાદ અપાવતી કાળઝાળ ગરમી અને સખત સૂર્યતાપ બાદ સાંજના પાંચ કલાક આસપાસ કાળા વાદળો ચડી આવ્યા હતા. અને ધીમીધારે વ૨સાદ શરૂ થયો હતો. લગભગ એકાદ કલાક સુધી હળવા, ભારે ઝાપટા શરૂ રહેતા શહેરના માર્ગો ભીના થઈ ગયા હતા. ભાવનગર શહેરમા જવાહર મેદાનમા રાવણદહન માટે બનાવેલ રાવણનું વિશાળ પુતળુ પલળી ગયુ હતુ. જ્યારે માર્કેટયાર્ડ વિસ્તારમા વરસાદ નહી હોવાથી અહિ દહન માટે કોઈ મુશ્કેલી પડી ન હતી. વરસાદના કારણે વાતાવરણમા ઠંડક પ્રસરી જતા ગરમીમાંથી છૂટકારો મળ્યો હતો. પરંતુ જવાહર મેદાનમાં રાવણ દહન માટે વરસાદ વિલન બન્યો હતો.

વિગત મુજબ ભાવનગરમા નોરતા પ્રથમ ત્રણ દિવસ સુધી મેઘરાજાએ હાજરી પુરાવી હતી. દરમિયાન બાકીના નોરતામા મેઘરાજાએ વિરામ લેતા ખેલૈયાઓ અને આયોજકોએ રાહત લીધી હતી. ત્યારે આજે વીજયા દશમીમા સાંજના સમયે વરસાદે હાજરી આપી કલાક સુધી હળવા ભારે ઝાપટા વરસતા માર્ગો પર પાણી વહેતા થયા હતા. ભાવનગર શહેરમા વાઘાવાડી રોડ, જવાહર મેદાનમા દહન માટે ઉભા કરાયેલ રાવણનુ પુતળુ પલળી ગયુ હતુ.

રાવણના પુતળામા વિસ્ફોટક પદાર્થ ભરીને તેનુ દહન કરવામા આવતુ હોય છે ત્યારે સાંજના સમયે રાવણ દહનમાં મુશ્કેલી થઈ હતી. બીજી તરફ માર્કેટમા યાર્ડ વિસ્તારમા વરસાદ નહિ હોવાથી અહિ રાવણ દહનમાં કોઈ મુશ્કેલી પડી ન હતી. હાલમા ફરીવરસાદી સીસ્ટમ કાર્યરત થતા જીલ્લભરમાં વાદળો છવાયેલા જોવા મળી રહ્યા છે.

Wishing all success to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s future political career, senior JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said he would back KCR’s efforts to gain the confidence of the people of the country through development rather than political revenge.

An official release from Rao’s office quoted Kumaraswamy as saying that Rao is a visionary leader, who is necessary for the development of the country.

The former Karnataka Chief Minister was present when Rao announced the resolution to rename TRS as Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Abuse of power has been going on at the Centre for the past seven years. KCR decided to give a firm answer to that. But we support CM KCR’s efforts to gain the confidence of the people of the country through development rather than political revenge, Kumaraswamy said.

Without any self-interest, KCR wanted to expand Telangana Rashtra Samithi into Bharat Rashtra Samithi only for the sake of nation-building, he claimed.

VCK party supremo and MP Thirumavalavan said CM Rao is a visionary leader and everyone should work together with the aim of defeating the BJP in the coming period, a separate release from Rao’s office said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today briefly stopped his speech during a rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district as ‘Azaan’ or Muslim call to prayer was going on at a nearby mosque.

Five minutes into his half-an-hour long speech at Showkat Ali stadium in the North Kashmir district, Amit Shah paused and asked those on stage “if something was going on at a mosque?”

When someone on the stage told him that ‘Azaan’ was going on, Amit Shah stopped his speech immediately, attracting a huge round of applause and chanting of slogans in his favour from the gathering.

After a brief moment, he said that the call for prayer has now stopped and asked if he could continue his speech.

“Should I resume my speech or not? Say it loudly, should I resume my speech,” he asked the gathering. He then went on with his speech.

Earlier, soon after his arrival, Amit Shah started his speech in front of a massive gathering in Kashmir’s Baramulla where people stood in long lines and had been waiting for hours to hear the Home Minister.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitender Singh, who were also present on the stage, did not address the gathering.

નેતા પુત્રની હરકત સામે પોલીસ એક્શનમાં

અનેક વાર ગુજરાત પોલીસ અને રાજ્ય સરકાર દ્વારા હથિયાર ઉપયોગ અંગે જાણકારી અંગેની જાગૃતિ પ્રેરવામાં આવતી હોય છે. પરંતુ આમ છતાં કેટલાક હજુ પણ આ જાગૃતિને નજર અંદાજ કરતા હોય છે. આવી જ રીતે અરવલ્લી જિલ્લા પંચાયતના પ્રમુખ લાલસિંહ ચૌહાણના પુત્રએ રિવોલ્વર વડે ફાયરીંગ કર્યુ હતુ. નેતા પુત્ર આરોપી વિરભદ્રસિંહ ચૌહાણે ઘર આગળ ઉભા ઉભા હવામાં ફાયરીંગ કર્યુ હતુ. જે અંગેનો વિડીયો પણ બનાવ્યો હતો અને તેને સોશિયલ મીડિયામાં વાયરલ કર્યો હતો. જેને પગલે નેતા પુત્રની હરકત સામે પોલીસ પણ હરકતમાં આવી હતી. વિડીયો અંગેની જાણકારી મેળવીને ઘટના અંગે ભિલોડા પોલીસ મથકે આરોપી વિરભદ્રસિંહ ચૌહાણ સામે ગુનો દાખલ કર્યો હતો.

આઇપીસી 336 અને આર્મ એક્ટ કલમ 30 મુજબ ભિલોડા પોલીસે અરવલ્લી જિલ્લા પંચાયત પ્રમુખના પુત્ર સામે ગુનો નોંધવામાં આવ્યો છે. ભિલોડા પોલીસ મથકમાં ફરજ બજાવતા એએસઆઈ વિનોદભાઈ ખાતરાભાઈએ સરકાર તરફે ફરિયાદી તરીકે રજૂ થઈને ગુનો નોંધાવ્યો હતો. અરવલ્લી એસપી સંજય ખરાતે ઘટના અંગેની તપાસ સ્પેશિયલ ઓપરેશન ગૃપના પીઆઈ જીકે વહુનીયાને સોંપી છે.

ઘર આગળ જ જોખમી ફાયરીંગ કર્યુ

ફરીયાદ મુજબ નોંધવામાં આવેલી હકીકત મુજબ, આરોપી વિરભદ્રસિંહ લાલસિંહ ચૌહાણે પોતાની લાયસન્સ વાળી રીવોલ્વરથી ફાયરીંગ કર્યુ હતુ. ભિલોડા તાલુકામાં આવેલ મલાસા ગામમાં પોતાના ઘર આગળ પોતાની અને અન્ય લોકોનુ જીવન જોખમાય એ રીતે રિવોલ્વરમાંથી એક રાઉન્ડ હવામાં ફાયર કરીને ગુન્હો આચર્યો હતો. તપાસ કર્તા ટીમ દ્વારા હવે લાયસન્સ કયા હેતુ સંદર્ભમાં મેળવવામાં આવ્યુ હતુ, એ અંગેની માહિતી મેળવવામાં આવશે. તેમજ હથિયાર અને લાયસન્સ બંને પોલીસ પોતાના કબ્જામાં મેળવવા અને આરોપી વિરભદ્રસિંહની અટકાયત કરવા માટેની આગળની કાર્યવાહી હાથ ધરશે.

Expelled from military training, youth forges documents again to run for Agniveer selection, arrested | Meerut News

MEERUT: In 2019, Kamal Singh had cleared the recruitment process in the Army. Six months into military training in the armoured corps for jawan using fake name Rahul Singh, it came to light he had produced fictitious documents and was expelled.
Now, 25, the overaged accused, turned into an Agniveer aspirant and again produced fake documents but couldn’t clear the physical test.

So he came back yet again with another set of fake documents for a rerun when sleuths of Military Intelligence recognized him.
He was nabbed and handed over to Muzaffarnagar police. Further questioning led to the arrest of another ex-serviceman, Mehkar Singh, from Meerut who is an expert in the preparation of fake documents.
According to SSP Muzaffarnagar, Vineet Jaiswal, “Agniveer recruitment is taking place in Muzaffarnagar and a joint team of Military Intelligence and Muzaffarnagar police identified Kamal Singh and he was arrested on Wednesday. He had participated in the running on September 21 representing Moradabad and now he was again here with another set of documents on Tuesday. This time his documents showed he belonged to Bulandshahr. He has been booked under IPC 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), etc.”
According to sources in the Army, intense questioning revealed the name of an individual from Baghpat Road Meerut who had made those documents in lieu of money. He was identified as Mehkar Singh, 48, an ex-serviceman involved in the same and recovered a number of fake documents, and medical slips of the candidates from his possession to which the individual could not answer satisfactorily thus confirming his connivance in the whole game of preparation of forged documents of candidates for Agniveer Recruitment in lieu of money.
He was arrested on Wednesday morning from Meerut.

A major accident was averted during the Dussehra carnival in Haryana’s Yamunanagar on Wednesday, where the burning effigy of Ravana fell on the people gathered there. According to a report by news agency ANI, several spectators gathered to watch Ravana Dahan on the ground were injured during the incident.

In a video of the incident shared by ANI,  it can be seen that many people were standing close to the burning effigy of Ravana, when the nearly burnt-out structure starts falling. On seeing the descent of the still burning structure, people start running away from it.

However, some people still got hurt in the accident. The exact number of injured people is yet to be ascertained and further details are awaited.

Every year, Dussehra is celebrated to commemorate the triumph of good over evil as Lord Rama killed Ravana on this day. The festival is celebrated in full swing across the country, by burning the effigies of Ravan, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnath.

Bumrah posted a tweet after being ruled out, he wrote: “I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia.”

Probing Indian Cough Syrup After 66 Children Die In Gambia: WHO

The World Health Organisation said it is investigating an Indian cough syrup

The World Health Organization issued an alert Wednesday over four cough and cold syrups made by Maiden Pharmaceuticals in India, warning they could be linked to the deaths of 66 children in The Gambia.

In a big disappointment to Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, party founder Bala Thackeray’s son Jaidev Thackeray on Wednesday extended support to his brother’s rival and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Jaidev, who shares an uneasy relationship with his younger brother Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, shared the stage with Shinde during Dussehra rally at Mumbai’s BKC ground on Wednesday evening. Jaidev’s estranged wife Smita was also present there along with Nihar, the son of late Bindumadhav Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray’s eldest brother.

Champa Singh Thapa, a trusted aide of the late Bal Thackeray, was also present at the event.

A parallel Dussehra rally was organised by the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai.

Both Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray claim their faction is the “real” Shiv Sena. The two camps came into existence after Shinde rebelled against Thackeray and engineered a split in the Sena.

France To Stop Hot Water Supply In Public Offices To Save Energy

Paris:

France will turn off the hot water in the toilets of public buildings and order municipalities to reduce water temperatures at public swimming pools by 1 degree Celsius as part of broader plans to reduce energy consumption, the energy ministry said.

President Emmanuel Macron’s government is due to announce sector-by-sector energy saving measures on Thursday designed to avoid power outages or shortfalls in gas supplies during the winter.

It has tasked industry, households, and municipal authorities to trim their energy consumption by 10% in response to Russia’s cut to gas supplies and spiralling energy prices.

Le Parisien newspaper reported that hot water production in administration buildings alone accounts for 10% of the energy bill of the French state, which employs over five million people.

With an energy crisis looming over Europe, France has made “la sobriete energetique” (energy efficiency) its central policy pillar to avoiding over-straining the country’s power grid, which is also beset by nuclear reactor outages.

Macron has also pledged to reduce France’s energy consumption by 40% by 2050 to live up to promises made in international accords to fight climate change.

“This requires a lasting change in our habits and behaviour”, the energy ministry said in a statement ahead of Thursday’s announcements.

Will Consider Kerala Govt Proposal for World Peace Conference: Nobel Peace Centre

Norway-based Nobel Peace Center, which awards the Nobel Peace Prize, on Wednesday said it will seriously consider the Kerala government’s proposal for convening a World Peace Conference.

In a meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is on a Europe tour with some of his cabinet colleagues, Nobel Peace Center Executive Director Kjersti Flgstad said the state government’s proposal for such a conference would be given serious thought, according to a statement issued by the CMO.

The statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that Vijayan, in the meeting, expressed interest in organising such a conference in collaboration with the Nobel Peace Centre. The Kerala government in its previous budget had announced that a World Peace Conference would be organized.

In the meeting, Flgstad said it was gratifying to see such a proposal from a state government and once the same is received through official channels, discussions would be held on it, the statement quoted him as saying.
