Nvidia's $920M headquarters covered with monumental triangles: The hidden reason behind the design

Nvidia’s $920 million headquarters in Santa Clara, California, is more than just an office complex, it’s a celebration of the company’s history, technology, and design philosophy. Dominated by triangular motifs in structures, walkways, windows, and skylights, the campus reflects Nvidia’s roots in 3D graphicswhere triangles form the foundation of modern rendering. The headquarters features two signature buildings, Voyager (750,000 sq. ft.) and Endeavor (500,000 sq. ft.), both named after Star Trek ships to reflect Nvidia’s futuristic, tech-driven culture. Built with AI-assisted design tools and Nvidia GPUs, the buildings themselves are a literal product of the technology the company develops.

Nvidia Headquarters: Voyager and Endeavor

The headquarters consists of Voyager and Endeavor, connected by a four-acre park. Endeavor was completed in 2017, while Voyager wrapped up in 2022. Both buildings were designed using machine learning and custom visualization software powered by Nvidia GPUs, optimizing daylight, acoustics, employee flow, and collaboration spaces. This AI-assisted approach allowed Nvidia to turn its headquarters into a real-world demonstration of its own technology, blending efficiency, innovation, and design.

Nvidia Headquarters: Voyager and Endeavor

The triangle motif: A nod to 3D graphics

Triangles are the simplest polygon in 3D graphics, and all complex 3D shapes are ultimately built from a mesh of interconnected triangles. Nvidia’s heavy use of triangles throughout its headquarters is both symbolic and practical. The motif pays homage to the company’s history, specifically its early experiments with graphics chips. Nvidia’s first chip, the NV1, tried to render curved surfaces but was overly complex and lacked developer support. Learning from that, Nvidia returned to triangle-based graphics with the NV3, which became the foundation of modern GPU design and enabled the company to thrive.By incorporating giant triangles into the buildings, skylights, walkways, and even landscaping, Nvidia is visually expressing the same principle: complex systems are built from simple, strong elements. The triangles in the campus serve as a constant reminder of precision, efficiency, and innovation, tying the company’s architectural design directly to its technological identity. In other words, every triangle you see is a tribute to Nvidia’s graphics legacy, showing that even the most advanced technology starts with simple, well-designed building blocks.

AI-driven architecture and innovation

Nvidia and its design partner, Gensler, leveraged AI and GPU-powered tools to optimize the layout for collaboration, efficiency, and employee well-being. Indoor and outdoor paths were carefully planned to reduce travel time while encouraging spontaneous interactions, similar to Apple Park’s circular walkways. Project manager Jack Dahlgren noted that if Nvidia builds a third facility, AI will almost certainly play a central role in its design, continuing the company’s tradition of integrating technology into physical spaces.

Nature, skylights, and sustainability

The campus features 511 triangular skylights and over 14,000 plants, including an 80-foot living wall. These elements enhance natural lighting, improve air quality, and create a healthier work environment. By blending nature, triangles, and technology, Nvidia demonstrates how architecture can embody both aesthetic appeal and functional innovation while aligning with sustainability goals.Nvidia’s headquarters illustrates how technology, design, and corporate history can intersect. Triangles symbolize resilience, innovation, and a return to foundational principles in graphics processing. By embedding these lessons into the campus, Nvidia created more than a workplace, it crafted a tangible expression of its identity, showing how corporate culture, technology, and architecture can coexist in harmony.

NEW DELHI: In a rather bizarre case from Madhya Pradesh, a man from Bhind district used the chief minister’s helpline number to raise an unusual grievance. His complaint? He received only one laddoo instead of the customary two during the Independence Day celebrations.Officials said Kamlesh Kushwaha, a resident of Naudha village, filed the complaint against the village sarpanch and secretary, for not getting the customary two laddoos. After the complaint, the panchayat purchased one kilogram of laddoos for redistribution. But in a twist, Kushwaha refused to accept them. Panchayat secretary Ravindra Shrivastava said, “Kushwaha is the in habit of doing such things. He has so far filed 107 complaints with the CM Helpline on various issues”

Ssshhh! Chess and the challenges of playing in front of a live audience

NEW DELHI: Have you ever stepped into the playing hall of a chess tournament? The atmosphere feels almost sacred. A vast space, rows of tables stretching endlessly with chessboards and pieces in their eternal black-and-white standoff. Players sit hunched, brows furrowed, as though the weight of the world rests on each move. The hush is so thick that the softest tap on a clock echoes like a drumbeat. Such was the scene at a recent grandmaster chess tournament in the capital.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Big names were missing, but there was no shortage of intensity. No audience is permitted once the play begins, and only the media is allowed to have phones, strictly on silent mode. Even a murmur attracts the sharp glance of an arbiter and makes you think twice before opening the mouth again. Here, silence isn’t just etiquette but the basic expectation.

Exclusive Interview | RCB, Chess & Money in the Game: FIDE Junior World Champion Pranav V

However, halfway across the world, a chess event unfolded in a completely different setting. In Las Vegas, at the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam, spectators were allowed to witness the action live for the first time last month.Fans in the arena had access to live commentary via headsets and the infamous evaluation bar on the screen fixed in front of the sitting area, while players donned noise-cancelling headphones to block the din.

Live audience

For the first time, checkmates-in-waiting and blunders-in-making were visible to the live audience. And they roared at every wrong move like at a boxing match. The drama thrilled audiences but riled players. American GM Fabiano Caruana, losing to his compatriot Hikaru Nakamura, fired quick shots.“In the match, I started to get very annoyed at the whole tournament… Not to make excuses, but I mean, the spectators are basically just yelling when we have five seconds each. Hikaru was crushing me and then, he probably had some mating chances, but it wasn’t easy. He had 5 seconds. He went back with the queen. I was back in the game. And around this moment there was just yelling, I mean like very loud yelling. I’m not exaggerating at all. It was just screaming in the audience and you can’t play like that with five seconds,” he said. “So we both blundered. I could basically have mated him and also won his queen on two different occasions. It just leaves a bad taste.”His frustration laid bare a problem chess hasn’t yet solved: Can the game truly be played with a live audience?Just weeks back, 19-year-old Divya Deshmukh won the Women’s World Cup in Batumi, Georgia.

Which chess format do you prefer to watch?

But her biggest triumph happened in front of an empty hall, sans any live spectators. Even her family and Indian team officials were asked to leave because of FIDE’s anti-cheating rules.“It feels good to have spectators around. It pushes me and makes me perform better. But if spectators make noise and all, I would not play as I would do when there are no spectators. I can understand it could be very disturbing,” GM Pranav V tells TimesofIndia.com.After Freestyle Chess, players at the 2025 eSports World Cup too wore noise-cancelling headphones. Yet, doubts remain over whether they can really work at the top level.“I am not sure if these headphones can block everything. I feel chess is still not ready for live spectators now,” Pranav, now 18, adds.20-year-old Rohith Krishna S, who recently became India’s 89th GM, feels time format could be the deciding factor.“Yeah, I mean, as a spectator myself, I watch only some chess games. For example, I like (to watch) rapid games (more than any other formats),” he admits.“I feel chess can become (more spectator-friendly) like if they have the faster time controls like rapid and blitz, but the classical format may not be a spectator-friendly one because it’s just too long.”ALSO READ: ‘Chess doesn’t fit women properly’: How Divya Deshmukh plans to defy Garry Kasparov’s 36-year-old remarkAnd yet, the allure of chess as a spectator sport is undeniable as streaming platforms have brought millions of young fans into the fold, hungry for high-stakes drama, quick tactical fireworks and, yes, the emotional rollercoaster of a crowd reacting in real time. The catch? The very precision and poise that make grandmasters exceptional can crumble at the slightest distraction.Where even the drop of a pin can tilt concentration, how do you reconcile the monk-like demands of play with the carnival atmosphere fans crave? As GM Pranav summed it up bluntly: “Chess is difficult to play with live audience.”Until it isn’t, the silence of the hall may continue to be its truest soundtrack.

Market outlook : The Indian benchmark index continued to increase for the sixth consecutive day on August 21, but the Nifty, who came at the upper levels, did not manage to stay at the level of 25,100. Investors are now eyeing the results of American unemployment claims, manufacturing PMI figures and Jackson Hole Simposium. At the end of the trading session, the Sensex rose by 142.87 points or 0.17 percent to 82,000.71 and the Nifty closed 33.20 points or 0.13 percent to close at 25,083.75. The fastest fastest shares in the Nifty include Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Cipla, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank, SBI Life Insurance, while, Bajaj Auto, Coal India, Power Grid Corporation, Eternal and Tata Consumer Products stayed in today’s top loses.

How can market move ahead

LKP Securities Senior Technical Analyst Metapors Day Says that the Nifty continued to trade in a limited range of 25,050-25,150 throughout the day. Voltyness was also limited in the market. The sentiment of the market remains positive. The Nifty remains above all short term moving averages. The Daily RSI is in a fast crossover and is moving upwards. There is support at 24,800 at the bottom. As long as this level remains, the purchase strategy on the fall is likely to be effective. Resistance is visible at 25,250 and 25,500 at the top.

Srikanth Chauhan, Equity Research Head of Kotak Securities Says that today, the benchmark index was seen moving in a limited range. The Nifty closed up by 33 points, while the Sensex remained 143 points. Technically, after a gap-up open, the market remained limited throughout the day. On the Daily Chart, it has created a small candle, indicating the state of indifference between the stunning and the mandis.

Srikanth Chauhan believes that the market’s over all trend is positive. But for intraday traders, the best strategy will be the best strategy for declining purchase and boom. Below, 25,000/81700 and 24,950/81500 are important support. While resistance is visible at 25,150/82300 and 25,250/82500. However, the attitude can change when going below 24,950/81500. If the Nifty falls below this level, traders can get out of the long position.

Market Outlook: Market closed with edge, know how to move on August 22

Ajit Mishra of Railways Broking Says that the market remained slow in the day of weekly expiry. The market was almost completely flat closed amid mixed signals. After a dull start, the Nifty wandered throughout the day in a limited range and closed at 25,080. The performance of various sectors was mixed, pharma, realty and financial shares increased. While FMCG, energy and auto were profitable.

Investors are eyeing developments related to GST reforms. Apart from this, the market is also eyeing the signs coming from global signals, especially Jackson Hole symposium. After clarity on Globar policies, especially the IT sector can be seen more fast. Keeping these things in mind, the positive attitude on the market remains intact. But traders are advised to find opportunities for rotational bing in different sectors. Also, avoid placing very aggressive bets in mid and small cap, focusing on select quality shares.

Nagraj Shetty of HDFC Securities It is said that on Thursday, the ups and downs in the Nifty continued to rise and it closed with a 33-point lead. Today, the Nifty failed to cross the level of 25150 and remained in a limited range to the end. A small red candle was formed after crossing the wall of the trend line downward at 25050 levels on the daily chart. Technically, this action of the market indicates the lack of a decisive upside breakout capacity. This can be seen as a short term stagnation in the market between uptrend.

The overalls of the Nifty remains intact, but the possibility of short-term consolidation or minor weakness in the next 1-2 sessions may not be ruled out in the next 1-2 sessions before moving towards the next barrier of 25300. There is immediate support at the level of 25000 for the Nifty.

Trump's claim on India falls flat: US embassy denies $21 million USAID claim for voter turnout; MEA confirms in Rajya Sabha

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday informed the Rajya Sabha that the United States embassy has contradicted claims made earlier this year by US President Donald Trump, stating that USAID had not allocated $21 million to boost voter turnout in India. In a written reply to a Rajya Sabha question, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said the US Embassy in New Delhi has formally informed India that “USAID/India did not receive or provide funding of $21 million for voter turnout in India from fiscal years 2014 to 2024, nor has it implemented any voter turnout-related activities in India.”This clarification came after the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), in February 2025, had publicly posted about cancelling $486 million in USAID funding worldwide, including an alleged $21 million earmarked for “increasing voter turnout in India.” Trump himself had cited this as an example of US aid misuse.Following the post, MEA sought urgent details from the US embassy regarding all USAID-funded projects in India over the past decade. In July, the embassy shared a funding breakdown but reiterated that no voter turnout initiatives had ever been financed in India.

Do you believe the US Embassy’s clarification about USAID funding for voter turnout in India is credible?

The MEA also confirmed that USAID operations in India have been wound up. On August 11, the US embassy notified India that all seven Partnership Agreements with the government had been closed as part of Washington’s decision to dissolve USAID globally.According to official figures placed in Parliament, USAID funding between 2022 and 2024 in India went to programs supporting Tibetan communities, education for marginalized children, air pollution mitigation, renewable energy projects, and HIV/AIDS interventions, but none related to elections. Here’s the reply made in Rajya Sabha:

'Marking my territory like lion': TVK chief Vijay targets DMK for 2026 polls; will contest from Madurai East
TVK Chief Vijay (PTI Image)

NEW DELHI: Actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Thursday declared that he would contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections from Madurai East, launching a fiery attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and asserting that his party would emerge as the principal challenger in the polls.Addressing the party’s second state conference in Madurai, Vijay likened himself to a lion marking its territory. “A lion knows how to live in a crowd and also knows how to live alone. It remains unique. A lion comes out only to hunt, not for entertainment. It always hunts only living prey…,” he said, drawing massive support from thousands of party workers who had gathered for the rally.

‘No Big Deal If He is Tamil’: DMK Blasts BJP’s VP Choice CP Radhakrishnan As Political Appointment

Vijay, who formed TVK in 2024, positioned the party as an alternative to both the DMK and the opposition Aiadmkbut singled out the ruling party as his main political rival. “Our only ideological enemy is BJP, our only political enemy is DMK…TVK is not a party that was started just for some political benefits…” he said. The TVK chief asserted that his party was not just another entrant in Tamil Nadu politics but a force with a distinct mission. “TVK is not a political game; it is an ideology. This is not a speech for publicity. This is a warning to those who are in power. TVK is here to dominate. Crores of people are with us. The 2026 election is a fight between TVK and DMK,” he said.“TVK is not a party that makes underground deals, forges alliances, and cheats the people. We are not afraid of anyone. The people of Tamil Nadu, the women and the youth stand with us,” he added. He also pledged that his party would champion larger Tamil causes, vowing to “free Katchatheevu island from Sri Lanka,” a long-standing political demand in the state. Referring to repeated clashes between Tamil Nadu fishermen and the Sri Lankan Navy, he said, “800 Tamil Nadu fishermen have been attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy. To ensure the safety of our fishermen, retrieve Katchatheevu (islands) and give them to us.”

A show of strength in Madurai:

The Madurai rally was billed as TVK’s biggest political mobilisation yet, with party workers thronging the venue from across the state. This conference marks the party’s second since its inception and signals Vijay’s intent to enter the 2026 elections as a serious contender. The actor-politician has repeatedly compared the upcoming polls to the historic elections of 1967 and 1977, when newcomers—DMK under CN Annadurai and AIADMK under MG Ramachandran rose to power by defeating entrenched parties. Vijay, however, differs from these leaders as he has only recently entered active politics, despite being a popular figure since 2004.Last week, he launched the “Now TVK” mobile application to drive membership across Tamil Nadu. At the launch, he urged his cadre to follow Annadurai’s principle of living with the people, learning from them and planning with them.Vijay said the party’s priority is the safety of women, elders and children, adding that a TVK government would focus on supporting groups needing special attention, such as farmers, youth, transgender people, the elderly without care, and the physically challenged. He also stressed that TVK would not engage in secret deals, opportunistic alliances, or attempts to mislead the public. According to him, the party is unafraid of challenges and enjoys strong support from the people of Tamil Nadu, particularly women and youth.

Criticism of DMK government:

Vijay has in recent months sharpened his criticism of chief minister MK Stalin’s government. In a recent post on X, he condemned the arrest of sanitation workers protesting for their rights in Chennai, calling the action “inhumane and anarchic.” He alleged that the government was acting in a “fascist” manner against ordinary people.“Condemn the fascist DMK government for arresting sanitation workers, who have been peacefully fighting for their rights, in an inhumane and anarchic manner in the dead of night!” Vijay wrote in a post on X.

.

.

Tragedy on the way to the rally:

Even as the rally showcased TVK’s strength, it was marred by tragedy. Prabhakaran, a 33-year-old TVK worker from Chennai, collapsed on his way to Madurai to attend the event. He had travelled overnight with friends in a van and reportedly collapsed after stepping out near Chakkimangalam. His friends rushed him to the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The hospital dean confirmed that he was brought in an unconscious state and was later declared dead.

After stampede, Karnataka brings bill to control crowds

BENGALURU: Karnataka’s government introduced a bill in the assembly on Wednesday that is intended to regulate public gatherings and punish violations. The move comes in wake of the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, during RCB’s IPL victory celebrations, that resulted in 11 deaths. The Karnataka Crowd Control (Managing Crowd at Events and Places of Gathering) Bill, 2025 seeks to make organisers accountable for safety at public events, mandating prior permissions, safety clearances and indemnity bonds. The proposed legislation mandates that organisers deposit an indemnity bond of Rs 1 crore, which can be invoked in case of damage to public property or loss of life, and proposes jail terms of up to seven years for such violations. The assembly is expected to debate the bill on Thursday.
