Excise department team scrutinizing the records of a furniture firm in Kartarpur

The Excise and Taxation Department of the Punjab Government has started tightening the noose on the evaders of GST. The teams of the department raided two places in Jalandhar, Goraya and Kartarpur. In Goraya, a firm making fertilizers and pesticides has been raided, while in Kartarpur, the team of the department has started its investigation by taking stock and records of two firms selling furniture.

The team, which raided Goraya and Kartapur on behalf of the Excise and Taxation Department, went from the Assistant Commissioner’s Office Jalandhar-3 and 2. The teams raided the office of New Chetinder Trading Company Goraya under section 67 of GST on suspicion of tax evasion. DCST Paramjit Singh ACST Rajmandeep Kaur, who is heading the team of excise department, said that he suspected that the firm was making mistakes in filing GST.

In view of this, today the team of STO Navtej Singh, Karanbir Singh, STI Rajesh Sharma and Tarlok Chand raided the firm. During the raid, the officers of the department have taken possession of all the stock of the company.

While the Excise Department team raided Bobby Furniture and Furniture Cottage in Kartarpur. Here the team was led by ACST Shubhi Angra. They were accompanied by the STOs of the department Shalindra, Kulwinder, Pawan, Dharminder.

During the raids, the teams of the department have also taken possession of the bill books, stock registers and other records of the firms at both the places. Teams are investigating whether GST has been rigged or not. When asked if any irregularities were detected in the company, the officials said that till now all the records are being searched, the stock is being reconciled with the registers. Investigation is going on now. It is too early to tell anything about the glitch.

Before the raid in Kartarpur, the team of Excise Department had also taken the head of the Furniture Association Mandeep Singh with them. The team of the department raided the furniture firms along with the head of the association.
