Mumbai: A 9-year-old man allegedly killed his mother in Mumbai’s Mulund area on Saturday. The accused, identified as Jayesh Panchal (3), allegedly tried to commit suicide after strangling his mother Chhaya Panchal to death.
After the incident, a neighbor of the Panchal family contacted the police as soon as they saw a blood stain outside their house. Police found a letter written in Gujarati language and a knife at the spot. The police called the husband of the deceased and asked him to explain the letter written in Gujarati by translating it into Hindi. In the letter, Jayesh Panchal, who was experiencing mental stress due to a property dispute, admitted that he had committed the crime. He said he took the step because he could not see his mother being upset.
Mulund police found him injured at the railway station and he was taken to JJ Hospital for treatment. The incident took place in Vardhman Nagar area in Mulund West, an official said. Jayesh’s father is a pharmaceutical manufacturer.
Police said there had been constant quarrels in the Panchal family for the past few days due to a property dispute in the family. Eventually due to quarrels and arguments the depressed accused killed his mother and attempted suicide The police have registered an offense under the relevant section and taken further action.
