- Another order passed by former commissioner Sanjay Pandey after POCSO was withdrawn
Another order issued by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey after POCSO has been withdrawn. Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar has prohibited the police from taking harsh action, seeing the harassment of the youth as a crime is filed under the Indian Penal Code Act against those who drive in the opposite direction.
He guided the cops on several issues in the first crime conference held with PSIs and other senior officers of all police stations in Mumbai. When Sanjay Pandey was the Commissioner of Police, he ordered all the policemen to register an offense under the Indian Penal Code if anyone is seen driving in the opposite direction.
More than one lakh drivers were booked in three to four months. There was strong resentment among the citizens, especially among the youth, as the offense was registered directly under the Indian Penal Code Act. Many opposed the move because of the possibility that this criminal background would be shown in passports and other academic work. Due to such crimes, the work of the police also increased a lot.
Taking into account all these situations, Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar directed all the police to take action under the Motor Transport Act without taking harsh action. He told the Crime Council that action should be taken against a co-passenger without a helmet on a two-wheeler, not indiscriminately.
Help Mumbaikars as much as possible
About 25 days after assuming the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner, Phansalkar took the crime council. While guiding the officers in this, he drew the attention of the police to many other important crimes. Prioritize filing and solving current crimes. Nowadays cyber crimes have increased in a big way. Help Mumbaikars in this crime as much as possible. In order to prevent such crimes from happening, Phansalkar had directed to create public awareness in the Crime Council.
