Yogi 2.0: 52 Held Under Gangster Act | Noida News

NOIDA: In the first 100 days of the Adityanath-led government’s second term, the Gautam Budh Nagar police have arrested 370 criminals who featured in the top 10 criminals’ lists across police stations. Cops have also nabbed 52 working with the land and sand mafias across the district between March 25 to July 10 this year.
Love Kumar, joint commissioner of police (Law and Order), Gautam Budh Nagar, said, “Since the start of the year, we have been keeping a close watch and trying to nab the wanted criminals. We made a list of top 10 criminals at each police station and are trying to arrest them at the earliest to curb crimes.”
“In the 100 days’ programme run by the department, we have arrested 52 under the gangster Act. The department has also ceased properties worth Rs. 22.47 crore from them. In the same duration, we have managed to secure punishment for nearly 400 criminals, with six getting life imprisonment and 26 getting ten years in jail,” Kumar added.
In a drive since June 1 under the supervision of commissioner of police Alok Singh, police have arrested 56 persons accused of looting and seized goods worth Rs 1.5 crore from them. These goods range from mobile phones to vehicles like cars, trucks, etc.
According to Singh, they would initiate such drives in the future as well to ensure that the law and order situation in the state is under control.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy against criminals active in the district. Our teams have been working out cases on time while regularly tracking known and habitual offenders. We are also taking preventive action to ensure the situation is under control,” the CP said.
There have also been 51 encounters in Yogi’s second term, with 100 arrested during those encounters. Most encounters were in the area under the Sector 58 police station (8) jurisdiction, followed by the areas under the Beta-2 police station (7) and Phase 2 jurisdictions.
