  • The price is decided by the collector before approval
  • There is also lack of ladies-gents toilet facility in the fair
  • Violation of rules laid down for safety as well

In both the Lok Melas, including the one organized by the municipality in Amreli, on the one hand there has been an empire of money, on the other hand there have been complaints that people are being robbed by increasing the prices in all rides despite the fact that the collector has set them.

Two folk fairs have been organized in Amreli city almost two years after Korana. The Lions Club organized fair is in the grounds of Big Nutan School and the municipality organized fair is in the grounds of Forward School. People are enjoying these two fairs, but even though the prices of the rides are fixed, money is being extorted indiscriminately against the orders of the Collector. On the seventh day the price is increased by Rs.10 and on the eighth day the price is doubled as more people come.

The Collector of Amreli has given a written order at the time of approving both the Lok Melas and said that regarding amusement rides, a district level committee has been formed by order of Sales Rank-1 to inspect and test the rides erected on a temporary basis during the fairs and festivals in the district. The place where the fair is to be held has been given conditional approval by the Managing Trustee Forward School, Amreli to the Chief Officer, Amreli till 25/08/2022. The matter and all opinions are subject to the following conditions under Section-33 of the Mumbai Police Act. From 15/08/2022 to 21/08/2022 it is ordered to permit the holding of entertainment fairs and rides from 10:00 am to 11:00 am every day.

Meanwhile, the ticket price for the Lok Mela at the ground of Amreli Forward School has been fixed at Rs 30 in the order. At that time, in the Lok Mela organized by the municipality, the riders are extorting Rs 40 and Rs 50 from the people as they see fit. At that time, even where the second Lok Mela was held in the ground of Nutan School, there was a widespread complaint that the riders were carrying out extortion of Rs 50 as per their wish. The chief officer of Amreli was called on this issue and the call was not answered. A copy of the order passed by the Tantra is also not posted in the public place of the fair where people can read it. Nor does it comply with the mandate to have facilities for ladies and gents toilets in the fair. On the eighth day, before more people are robbed, the municipality and the team formed to monitor the fair have demanded immediate action and implementation of the collector’s order.
