Changes to the WTC after the Oval Test

Hosts England beat South Africa by 9 wickets on day three of the third and final Test of the three-match Test series at the Oval in London. With this win, England has won the Test series 2-1. There has been a big change in the standings of the ICC World Test Championship after England’s stunning win against South Africa.

Australia on top, Africa second

After losing the second Test in Manchester, the South African team dropped from first place in the WTC points table and are still second. The African team is now in second place with 60 percent points. The loss to South Africa benefited Australia, who rose to the top with 70 per cent points and are still at the top. Even after winning the third Test, the England team remains at number seven with 38.6 percent points. England have won seven matches and lost eight so far in this period. As for India, Rohit Sharma’s team is at the fourth position with 52.08 percent marks.

India have two series left

Team India, runners-up in the first round of the World Test Championship, have two more series left to reach the final this time. Rohit Sharma-led team India will play a four-match Test series at home against Australia while India is also scheduled to play a series against Bangladesh.

England beat South Africa in three days to win the series

England have won the three-match Test series against South Africa 2-1. South Africa won the first match of the series while England won the second test. The decisive Test could start on the third day, but the spirit with which the England team played throughout the match did not look like it would need five days for a result. The South African team was all out for just 118 runs in the first innings. In reply, England scored 158 runs in the first innings and took an important lead.
