Ahmedabad: The Congress party on Tuesday demanded that drones should be used to conduct a survey of the damage to crops because of the unseasonal rain. State Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said that if drones could be used to detect offenders who did not wear a mask during the Covid-19 pandemic and if 1,200 drones could be used for a show during the ICC World Cup final in Ahmedabad, why was the government not using drones to conduct a survey of the damage to crops.“Many farmers still have not received compensation for the crop losses during the Biparjoy cyclone. It shows the state government is not interested in well-being of farmers,” Doshi said. tnn

Maharashtra: Crops on almost 1 lakh hectares damaged by unseasonal rain
Unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm in Maharashtra have damaged crops on 99,381 hectares of land. North Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha are the worst affected regions. Grapes, paddy, bananas, onions, soyabean, cotton, and sugarcane are among the crops damaged. Opposition leaders have criticized Shinde for campaigning in Telangana instead of addressing the crop damage crisis in Maharashtra. NCP MP Supriya Sule has called for immediate panchnamas and a drought relief package from the Centre for affected farmers.
