Heavy Rain Alert in Delhi-NCR: The Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) is expected to receive heavy rains during the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of rains in the next two days in the areas of Delhi-NCR. The minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Maharashtra, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Gujarat, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh including Mumbai are receiving torrential rains these days. Whereas in Delhi, UP-Bihar, people are facing humidity.
After several heavy rains in Mumbai, there was some relief in the evening on Wednesday (August 20). Due to heavy rains, there was waterlogging in the entire region. Floods in many areas of Gujarat
In many coastal districts of Gujarat, flood -like conditions occurred after heavy rains on Wednesday. Many people from low -lying areas were evacuated to safe places. Dardarda taluka in Junagadh recorded 331 mm of rain in 12 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain in the next two days. Many parts of Junagadh received heavy rain in the morning in the Saurashtra region of the state. The weather bureau has predicted excessive rains to exceptionally heavy rains at some places in the district till Thursday morning.
According to PTI, 331 mm rainfall was recorded in Mendarda taluka in 12 hours ended at 6 pm on Wednesday. While Keshod taluka received 280 mm of rainfall during the same period. Other districts including Porbandar, Navsari and Valsad received heavy rainfall during the day. Due to this, the administration had to start rescue and relief operations for the affected people.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and several teams of state unit SDRF have been deployed to run relief and rescue operations in those areas. Where heavy rains have flooded the low -lying areas. Many rivers were buried due to rain, causing floods in the lower areas of the surrounding villages.
Officials said that 46 children and four teachers of a school were trapped due to floods in Borasar village in Porbandar district. Junagadh Collector Anil Ranavasia said that three taluka of the district has been particularly affected by heavy rains. 52 low villages have been kept on alert due to the dam being on the boom. He said that one person died due to lightning in Manavadar village.
Things worsen in Kashmir too
Many rivers and drains have suddenly flooded due to heavy rains in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Also, landslides and traffic disrupted in some places are also reported. Officials said many buildings have been damaged due to rain. The Mughal Road has been disrupted. At the same time, the movement of vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has also been disrupted. He said that due to torrential rains in Jammu, there was water logging on one part of the highway near Ban toll plaza. This disrupted traffic. Passengers faced a lot of inconveniences.
Fear of landslide
Officials said traffic was interrupted for some time due to landslides in the Nandani tunnel. However, traffic was restored after removing debris. There has also been a slight landslide in the Chenani region. He said that the upper wall of a school was damaged due to rain in Dogarahal area of Jammu. But there is no information about anyone being killed in this accident. Officials said the drivers have been asked to take precautions, as waterlogging continues in many low -lying areas.
In view of the possibility of landslides in five areas of Ramban district after heavy rains, the authorities have asked people to be vigilant. Landslides near Mughal Maidan in Khanpura area of Kishtwar district have stalled the traffic on the highway, after which the administration is removing debris. Officials said that there is strong flow in rivers and drains including Chenab, Tawi, Ujh and Basantar in Jammu, Reasi, Samba and Kathua districts, which have led to waterlogging in low -lying areas and drains.
School-college closed in many areas of Himachal Pradesh
Normal life has been disturbed due to heavy rains in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Schools and colleges have to be closed in some areas of Una, Kullu and Mandi districts. Schools have been closed as a precaution in Amb and Gagret subdivisions of Una. Similar orders have been issued after the sudden floods, cloudburst and landslides in the areas of Manali and Banjar and Mandi districts of Kullu.
Death of UP’s tricolor
Officials told PTI that the body of a pilgrim killed by a rock fall while returning from the Kailash Yatra in Kannur district was recovered on Wednesday. He said that Gaurav (31), a resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, was injured in an accident near Ganesh cave on Tuesday. On receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and started rescue work. But he had died.
Officials said the body was taken to the regional hospital Rikongpoo and handed over to the family members after the post -mortem. The sudden floods in the drain in Shastri Nagar of Kullu damaged houses and vehicles, causing panic among the local people. A statement issued by the Sub Division Magistrate said that a walking bridge was swept away in Silbhani village in Mandi district due to sudden floods after a cloudburst on Monday night. The statement said that there is a stir in Bhubu, Kungri and concerned rivers of the district. Due to this, an order was issued to keep the village schools closed on Wednesday for the safety of students.
368 roads closed including three national highways
Officials said a total of 368 roads including three national highways in the state were closed for the common people on Wednesday morning. These include 173 roads in Mandi district and 126 in Nikullu district. The Meteorological Department said that since Tuesday evening, many parts of the state have been raining intermittently.
Una recorded the highest 132.6 mm rainfall. This was followed by 68 mm rainfall, 63.4 mm in Dehra Gopipur, 60.4 mm in Palampur, 60 mm in Guler, 56 mm in Solan, 53.8 mm in Bilaspur and 48.3 mm in Jubbadhatti.
Officials said the toll recovery has been adjourned for a month in view of landslides due to heavy rains on Baloh and Garamora toll plaza on Kiratpur-Nerchowk four lane highway in Bilaspur district. The IMD has released ‘Orange Alert’, fearing torrential rains in different parts of the state from 24 to 26 August. The ‘Yellow Alert’ has been released on 23 August in view of forecast of heavy rains at different places in the state.
