Mumbai: A 46-year-old man who had lent Rs 15,000 to a woman has been arrested for allegedly entering her house while she was bathing and molesting her.
Navghar police in Mulund said Vijay Kamkar has been booked for outraging the modesty of a woman, sexual harassment and assault under the IPC, as well as relevant sections of Maharashtra Money-lending (Regulation) Act.Kamkar was produced before a court and sent to police custody.
Police said following the death of her husband from Covid, the woman took a loan of Rs 15,000 from Kamkar in 2022 on a 10% interest. She was prompt with all repayments, barring the recent one. On Saturday, Kamkar entered her house while she was alone and allegedly molested her. He fled after she raised an alarm. —Ahmed Ali
